Have you ever looked at a run down building, park or cemetery and wonder what life (if you could consider a cemetery having “life”) it once had? Structures that at one time served a purpose and were full of vitality. Ever wonder about the people who once bustled about its halls or ground? I do. And not just grand spaces but even the meager and ordinary.
I am Anna Rodgers from Jacksonville, FL. This is a blog to showcase the forgotten built environment. Places that were once treasured or, in the least, given a distinct purpose but have fallen to mere roadside rubble. I hope to also discover more about the spaces that others have deemed significant. Historic preservation is certainly my passion, but it is my love of the hunt and discovery of the forgotten past that really gets me excited. I hope in some small way to shed light on a place or person that deserve a second look.
Initially, I set this blog up to record my observations and duties as a volunteer at the Historic Preservation division of the Planning and Development department for the City of Jacksonville, Florida. However, there are only a few posts from that time period.
Hi,
I am very interested in obtaining any old photographs of Bayard. I would like to print these old images on large canvas for display in a new Bayard Caffee.
If you can help please let me know.
Thanks,
Ray Dominey
